The World Needs Your Business Book
You run a great business.
You want to tell others how they can, too.
You need to write a book.
Dear Author,
Now more than ever, the world needs great business advice. We thought business changed in the 90’s. Then we realized that was nothing compared to the change in the new millennium.
But with the changes we see coming in the next few decades—well, I guess you could say “you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
And that’s why we need your book: to help the millions of entrepreneurs and business owners around the world survive and thrive in the sweeping changes in the global economy.
I’m Derek Lewis and I ghostwrite books for great authors just like you—with an inspiring story, creative advice, and a passion for great business.

Elizabeth's impact on me and the work I do has been profound over a number of years, and will continue to be.
- Michael E. Gerber, author of the international best-selling book series The E-Myth
Business Authors Use Ghostwriters
Legend has it that when someone asked Ronald Reagan about his autobiography—ghostwritten by Robert Lindsey—he said, “Oh, I hear it’s a terrific book. One of these days, I’m going to read it.”
Over 80% of business authors, leaders, celebrities, and politicians use ghostwriters—people like Jack Welch, Donald Trump, and lee Iacocca.
Why?
- They’re not professional writers. They have the stories, the experience, and the words. It’s my job to distill all of that into a great book that people want to buy.
- It takes a lot of time. In fact, it is a full-time job for several months. Few successful people can simply stop everything to write their book.
- A ghostwriter brings a unique perspective and a critical perspective to the book—the ability to not only write well, but to weave stories, lessons, advice, and ideas into a smooth and precise manuscript.
We can—and will—craft a manuscript that is the very best of you, plus something else. That something else is an elusive quality, but it's the one that makes people say, "Wow, what a book!"

Your ability to be positive and constructive toward yourself, your experiences, and your future can change your life—and this book shows you how to do it.

What Can a Book Do for You?
Everything.
It is immensely gratifying, often the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
It commands respect. Everyone knows writing a book is hard work. That’s why so few people do it. Just the fact that you’re an author represents a great deal of courage, commitment, and intelligence.
It can result in exponential business growth. Many of today’s entrepreneurial superstars achieved fame and fortune only after writing a book. A well-written business book wins clients, communicates expertise, and encapsulates the author’s vast experience.
Whatever your field of practice, you can say you literally “wrote the book on it.”

Not only I am still getting called back by one university to teach, I also started teaching at another university last term. In addition, I won a new contract when I pulled the book out at the interview panel after a question came up. The book is already paying off.

Writing a Business Book is Easy
IBM CEO Lou Gerstner said, “I wrote this book without the aid of a coauthor or a ghostwriter (which is why it’s a good bet this is going to be my last book; I had no idea it would be so hard to do).”
If only Lou Gerstner had hired a business ghostwriter. It’s easy to write a business book.
At least, it can be.
My clients love working with me because I make it easy for them. We speak a few hours a week, then I write and they read. Six months of that and they have a book they love, plus the enjoyment of creating it.
It’s my full-time job, but it will only be your part-time project. A fun project, I might add. You get to see your book coming to life before your very eyes. We draft it, edit it, and then polish out the rough edges. You’ll have your manuscript in your lap before you know it.

I was sitting on the couch looking over the print-out of my book, and my girlfriend said, 'Well, you did it. You wrote your book.' It took me a minute to realize what she was saying—I was holding my lifelong dream in my hands!

I Only Do One Thing, But I Do It Very, Very Well
I ghostwrite business books that inspire entrepreneurship. That’s my niche.
Bo Burlingham wrote Small Giants and in it he said, “Having a great business is one way of making a better world.”
I’m an entrepreneur, but I would not have had the courage and confidence to become one if not for all the business books I read between high school and the time I launched my ghostwriting practice.
My clients hire me because I believe in their work, I’m passionate about business, and I’m enthusiastic about their book.
And it shows.
In fact, one of the best compliments I ever received was by a healthcare professional who read some of my work and said, “After reading this, I want to go out and start a business—and I don’t even care about business!”
Business books changed my world.
Your book will change someone’s world.

Job well done. It looks tremendous! Beautiful!

Your Book Deserves to be Written
Some entrepreneurs are easy to spot. They're consultants, business owners, or business leaders.
Some are less obvious: leaders of non-profits or innovators inside companies.
It doesn't matter which of these you are. What matters is that your story, your business's highs and lows, and your advice deserve to be shared with the rest of the world. Please believe me—your business story is every bit as heroic, as captivating, and as inspiring as any other’s.
But more importantly than that: we need your book. We need entrepreneurial heroes, people who have had success at different levels, people who come from different backgrounds with different gifts, people who all see the world differently.
Different audiences connect with different authors. Your book will speak to certain people, and their life will be better for having read your book.
The only problem, of course, is that your book isn't written…yet.

Derek 'gets it.' I am pleased to recommend someone who intuitively understands the serious challenge behind the task of being a writer and editor. Easy to engage with, easy to get done, easy to be proud of the end result. He understands the critical concept of expectation management and true professionalism and in this day and age, that's a rarity.
- Elizabeth Allen, marketing consultant and business owner
That’s Where I Come In
As I said, writing a business book is easy. You do the talking and I’ll do the heavy lifting.
In the first month, we’ll speak for two hours, twice a week. I’ll pay to transcribe our calls.
In the second month, we’ll create a detailed outline, establish the story arc, and determine what additional information, interviews, and material need to be gathered.
In the third and fourth months, I’ll write the first draft, one chapter at a time. You’ll read each one and we’ll discuss them in detail.
In the fifth month, I’ll rewrite each chapter according to our conversations. We’ll go through another round of review and discuss.
In the sixth month, I’ll line edit, copy edit, and pay for a professional proofreader to read through once more.
It’s that easy.

I highly recommend any aspiring authors wishing to write business and/or professional related books to have a chat with Derek.
